Ribh's D'Coopage

I'm not very good with dimensions. I find size hard to imagine and prefer to see things in context. So, that step ladder is really helping me out.

That's looking a great suze for your flock!
Yep, I'm hopeless with sizing too. I'm trying to decide on a lounge for the front room but I don't know if anything I like will fit. Metric hasn't helped me either. I still think in feet & inches!🙄

I hope you find a willing helper among your new neighbours soon. There are times when we all need a hand, and this is one such for you. Better to build it right than build it fast.
I have a handyman contact. I'll give him a buzz. I have a number of small jobs requiring tools I don't own & expertise I don't have. I've been saving them up for him.🤣

Time to invite a few neighbours for a small ‘new to the neighbourhood’ party or invite them one by one for a simple coffee ☕️ or tea 🫖 with cookies 🍪 .
Sure there is at least one who likes to give a helping hand when they find out how nice this new neighbour is.
🤣🤣🤣 I only have 1 neighbour & she's a bit of a nutter. The guy down the back seems unfriendly & there's no-one on the other side. One of the ladies from church offered to help but she sounded nearly as incompetent as I am so the handyman it will have to be.

Invest in a good tape measure. The kind that rolls up and has both metric and imperial scales in it.
I am never far from mine.

On my list...I've had to get a hammer & both sorts of screwdrivers but I don't do power tools.

Like a small reception room? With a few comfortable chairs? Or what? How large is the room?

Try this; Cut 4 ropes in the dimension of the room and take them to a furniture shop with a showroom. Lay them around the chairs you would like to buy to imagine/get a better picture.

I would buy at least a cordless drill/screwdriver with a bunch of standard tools for simple jobs. Eg like this one:

It saves me a lot of time and asking for a stronger arm.

Even 4 left hands makes building things like the new hoop coop a bit easier than just 2.

Today I bit the bullet & started on the chicken coop.
It all would have been much easier with 2 people & I think I will need a chappie to tighten everything before I attach the wire.

I'm not sure what happened; I'm notorious for misunderstanding instructions, but I thought I had just ordered the coop but seem to have ended up with several extensions. I am not unhappy about that as it turns out. It will keep the girls safe & confined with plenty of space.
What an excellent surprise!
