I have terrible luck this year. Bought 13 chicks in 2 batches from a local hatchery I have used for the last 8 years with out a problem. Of the first 8 chicks 5 died in the first 12 hours. In the second batch of 6 I lost all of them in 36 hours. I've been doing the same stuff for 8 years with out a problem. Of the 3 remaining I have 1 Blue Barred olive egger who is the Godzilla of chicks at 3 weeks old. I also have 2 Black Austrolorps. 1 of them developed lameness at 10 days old. I though it might be a spraddle leg type injury since Godzilla chick runs over the others. She was scooting around on her stomach. I brought her in and put her in hobbles. 4 days later the hobbles are off and she isn't much better. Her stance from the front is wide and from the back she is cow hocked. She walks like she is drunk, very deliberate with some wobbles and stumbles. She eats and drinks great. Is preening and flew 18 inches yesterday while I was cleaning her cage. I've given them all Nutri Drench in their water since last night. The other remaining Austrolorp is half the size of her sister and they are all the same age. I wanted to put her back with the other 2 tonight. Does anyone have any suggestions?
