i am asking because someone bought the house across from us..and they do NOT like our goats..i am trying to think of everything possible just in case they try something. i read the ordinances, and i think my goats dont qualify as livestock but i could be wrong....i dont know i am just worried now! i knew there would be trouble as soon as i saw the woman though, she had a real chip on her shoulder. blah.

I always get upset when people move into a place and expect to change it to suit only themselves. With that said, the best thing to do is to get along as well as you can with your neighbors.

All fifty states have some version of a “right to farm” statute. Such statutes purport to protect (to provide a “safe harbor”) for agricultural operations from nuisance-tort lawsuits if they meet certain conditions. Not all state statutes have the same requirements, though most say that if the agricultural operation is in compliance with all environmental regulations, is properly run, and was there first (usually one year) before a “change in the locality thereof,” then the agricultural operation cannot be found to be a “nuisance” under tort law.

Where in Oklahoma are you located? I live in the country but incorparated into Union City. Goats are considered livestock here as we are allowed to shot any dog in our yard because of them ( city police and I have an understanding next dog in my yard is a dead dog) . Where did you read the ordinaces online of hardcopy?

we arent in the country..i was just grasping i think.
what i plan on doing is putting up a partial privacy fence so she cant see into our yard..out of sight, out of mind etc.
