RIP Blanche - Our pterodactyl chicken loaf.

Sometimes, I swear that having a favorite chicken is like having a favorite Game of Thrones character...
Please humor me as I share/mourn the loss of a wonderful friend.

Last night, our sweet, fluffy Momma Blanche passed away. It happened so fast. Before sunset, I went out to turn the coop light on for the flock, and Blanche looked a bit pale sitting under the blackberry bushes. I brought her inside for the night and we plied her with treats and snuggles. She met her end a few hours later while snuggling in my 13-year-old daughter's lap.

Blanche was an amazing chicken. Soooo sweet. She'd have excelled as a house chicken. Bottom of the pecking order, and too docile to stick up for herself except when she was broody. Losing her has wounded us. She will be sorely missed.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I really loved seeing all the pictures of her. She sounds like she was such a sweet wonderful chicken. She will be waiting for you at that big coop in the sky. I hope you and your family can find so much peace and grace in knowing that you have given her a great life.

Aww. I'm so sorry. I know it hurts. We lost one recently too. They can be so sweet and really become more than just livestock imo. She looked like she loved the family
