I love this cross!! I have several. I have sold a lot of them and gave away almost all the boys, but I have about 7 left. I was wondering wether they'd lay brown or white eggs (anyone know?), well, half have white ear lobes and half have red. Interesting!!

My Leghorn hens though are Ideal 236 Leghorns. One chick came out solid black, it now has some gold feathering around the neck, she actually looks like an Easter Egger. The others are white with black spots, white with gold specks (very pretty!!!) and some have a lot of gold feathering. Here are some pics, I can get more. Oh I have one pullet left that is close to 5 months old and 4 or so that are around 4 months. I got mostly roos. (

Thanks. I am not sure yet. Like I mentioned, some have white ear lobes and some have red ear lobes. They are 4-5 months old but aren't ready to lay yet I think they'll start early spring.

I was wondering too, with the size difference between RIR and leghorns, did you have different sized chicks, and did the big ones end up being males?

I am pretty sure i read somewhere that if you want to know what color eggs it will depend on the hen that you hatch them from. So if you hatch from a brown egg layer the eggs should be brown and vise versa with the white egg layers.

Beings that the cross is between a wht. egg layer and a brown egg layer the egg should be a beige or tinted color.

My buddy has some RIR rooXBrown Leghorn cross layers and they lay a tinted colored egg.
