Julie, the rooster in my avatar is one of the seven chicks I hatched out of your eggs two years ago. Two out of the seven were rose comb.

I just want to step back in to let everyone know that my RIR's arrived this morning from Pine Grove(William). 50 shipped and 50 arrived safely. I am looking foward to these growing up. Here is a pic...

Those are beautiful birds from Pine Grove, but wait until you see my young birds from Taterschickens. I LOVE her RIR's. They are nice, too, gentle and calm. They are a little over 2 months old now.

So you will understand that I am very very very upset that I killed some of her eggs. Not all, thank goodness.

I had some in the LG, most were in the Genesis. I was very tired, the temp was a little low, and I turned it up. I NEVER turn up the LG unless I can stay and monitor. I don't know why I did it except I was tired. Then I went to bed.

Right, you guessed it, in the morning the temp was 107.

My fault. I actually usually have pretty good luck with the LG.

RIRs are my second favorite breed only after bantam Cochins.

After many years, I finally got my first RIR from the feed store. I really hope it's a little cockerel, although guesses so far have been a pullet. I named this bird Seamus, so if it's a girl, I guess a name change is in the furture. lol
