It has snowed several times but this time for the past two days its stuck. I went outside and saw that my RIR, Mushroom's feet were very red. She held on foot up the one that is even redder. When I tried to take a picture it didn't show up as red as I saw it. My RIR keeps staying outside while my other one Portabella mostly stays in. Underneath the snow is hay but she and a few other ones are digging in the dirt. They can go in or go out as much as they want...is this a problem or is she okay? It kind of scared me!!!

Are the feet cold? or hot? If they are cold, she should be warmed up. If hot, it could be an infection. Does she show any other symptoms?

She's enclosed so I can't touch her feet. She isn't showing any other signs...She is digging for food outside and eating.

I could open up the enclosed run and have my daughter get her and check.

I have noticed the same thing on the feet of my Buff Orps. They are still scratching around in the area I have cleared of snow in the run and they are laying just fine, so I don't think it is a real problem. Might be something like my hands get in cold weather - rough and chapped and look really bad. Of course I don't plan to go out and rub Gold Bond medicated lotion on their feet!!!

Her feet were cold and reddish. Does that mean its the start of frost bite?
