Rock Hounds? Any?

My Mom and Dad were major rock hou8nds, so Of course growing up they had me in rock and gem clubs, and going rock hunting a lot! I don't do much as an adult, but do think its very fun! WE all usede to make jewelery out of our cabachons, it was really fun finding a rock, IDing it, and then taking the "raw" rock and making a something out of it.

Ok you people that don't have geodes. At the gem & mineral show, they are $10 and they cut them right there. If you want, when time comes, send me the $10 and I will send you two halves of a cut geode. They are found out here by the hundreds.

I think there was even a movie made about a carcharon megalodon named "Meg!" Horror flick, of course.

Glad to know I didn't miss anything. I kinda figured it would be a little rough around the edges.

I got a beautiful geode when I was traveling through Keeokuk (by the Illinois and Missouri border). It's got gray quartz crystals inside. They didn't cut it in half. It just has a lid sort of that comes off so you see the inside. I call it my bowling ball. Wish I could post a pic, but my computer has not wanted to read the thumb drive that my pics are on lately.

That isn't as far fetched as it might seem. During the French and Indian War in Maine, the English took over the land where the Indians lived. Both the French and Native Americans refused to accept the British Crown as their leader. The populations disbursed to Canada and East towards the Mississippi River and took their cultural habits with them. It is possible that tourmaline was something they took with them, or traded for even after they moved. I'll look through my pieces and see if I have something that looks like the center one in the photo....unfortunately that one is faceting grade, so I can not trade it.
