Roo with abscess!

I have a roo that got an injury on his wattle. This grew into a nasty infection. Unfortunately, we were all ill ourselves and didn't catch it in time. His wattles were insanely swollen, and there is a hard lump between them under his chin. I put him on Pennchlor 64 (it's been 10 days), and the infection did go down quite a bit, but the solid mass has me concerned. I'm assuming it needs to be cut out, which I am afraid to do. My concerns are about pain management, and aftercare. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Try making a small tiny cut on his wattle with a scalpel ect and squeeze his wattle.If blood comes out stop if pus comes out continue to squeeze the rest out.
