Roos vs. Neighbors-Need Advice

I've considered it

. I loved my roos, but I'd like to add other livestock to the family, so this works. I may bring my big roo back for a while once the cochins I wanted to breed him to start laying. Hopefully, it'll be during the winter when the neighbors are in AZ.

I have stealth chickens...althought the regs say I can have five and no rooster.

6:45 PM…yesterday..they, the chickens all started screaming their heads off.

It is night-night time , it is still fairly warm and light out, and they are in their pen and ready to go to sleep. However of course, this is the time of day that the neighbors pick to release their rug rats to the wilds for a yelling and shrieking session.

I run out side to quite the chickens and hear the guy that is catty corner to my property say to his kid…”Oh, that is just someone’s chickens.

Do –you- want- to- see- the- chickens?”

So there I was under the trellis with the honeysuckle growing over it…almost in my underware….no makeup, and my hair wrapped on top of my head. I was just waiting to see and hear more. My future happiness was at stake. I was terrified. !@#$%^&*()(*&%$#@!!

I guess he picks his kid up and says to him…”Can –you- see- the- chickens and he goes….. bawk, bawk, bawk!” The Kid says “NO” he can’t see the chickens and then he goes ….."bawk, bawk bawk". But of course, the kid SCREAMS ...bawk! bawk! bawk! and that just sets my chickens off again.

There I am under this tree waving wildly at the birds jumping up and down in total panic. The C-birds are really good with hand signals and I am sure the terrified look on my face convinced them to shut up.

The problem is when the neighbor’s “children” start screaming…..the chickens, to their credit, think that some THING is being KILLED and they start “calling” for HELP. That help is me.

Now ……a least one neighbor knows I have the dreaded dinosaurs with feathers.

I kept listening and I did NOT hear any derogatory remarks aimed at the animals or myself. ??????????????

All I want is a simple country life…..only I want it in the “country”. Is that too much to ask.

funny how people move out to the country then complane about being in the country (bugs, smell of farms, lack of street lights, deer, bear, on and on). I don't understand this, would seem to me if you don't like the country don't move there, stay in the city. simple right? these are the same type of people who move next to an airport and complane about planes flying over there house. far as your roos go I would keep them. If you give them up the" city in the country poeple" will soon find something else to complane about and before you know you will be in the city. good luck

That's how I feel!! We live in a rural, unincorporated area. It's a mix of really nice houses and not so nice houses. The majority of people have mutiple dogs. I drove behind a woman riding a horse the other day. My side of the neighbor is coming into the phase where young families are moving in who want animals and older families whose kids have left the nest and are getting rid of their neighbors. One family recently got rid of their goats and horse because their daughter is in college. They're 2 houses down from my whiny neighbors. I think 75% of my friends either have livestock or want to get livestock. They've moved out here so they can do that.

Yeah, I would just ignore him too. If you're feeling generous, give him some eggs. You live in an area where have chickens is probably expected. I live on a half acre with neighbors surrounding me. One neighbor just notified me that my roo may be disrupting other neighbors. I think she was kind of complaining, but I'm also going to ignore her and give her eggs from time to time. After a while they'll get used to it. Just like I got used to my neighbors barking dog.

I have gone through similiar encounters with the neighbors. As for crowing during the day...well sorry thats what roosters do. You are out in the country!
The crowing at 530 am can be annoying but I bumped that up a couple hours by putting black plastic (trash bag) over the window that I just roll up during the day.

If ordinances says yes then offer her an olive branch of eggs and if she dont take it screw her live with the bad neighbor she seems far enough away from your description. If it was me and she still gave me a hard time I would just park a couple of my old trucks right up against her property line and let her look a that!
