Rooster acting like hen in laying box

My rooster keeps laying on the ground and scratching his feet under him...just like a hen would in her laying box. I see him do this a lot. Does anyone know what this means?

Sometimes they do it to show the girls he’s good at finding a place to lay.
Unless he’s trying to take a dirt bath. Does he have a good dry area with plenty of loose dirt?

Thank you for responding so quickly yes he does.....i have noticed the hens come running when he does it...but he picks the middle of the yard. LOL. Sometimes he goes off and does it all by himself.
