Rooster? Aggressive!

He is only 4.5 months. I figured that was what was going on with him. The tough part is that the girls are really getting hurt by him. I knock him down now and again, but it really upsets the alpha rooster, his buddy, who I don't want to tick off. The alpha is a good guy.

I'll wait a little longer.

Nice page on rooster behavior...

10 hens/rooster huh...

Mine should be thrilled... He's got 25...

It's good to know his behavior so far indicates that he will look out for the flock... One less worry about opossums...

I have 10 hens and 2 roosters. The boys like to tag team their babes

Rooster Red - Thanks so much for sharing you roo behavior page. It was a great read. We recently figured out we have a roo. Your information will help us be better owners!! Thanks again.

Rooster-Red,

After viewing your homepage I find it's ironic that I would have mentioned possums...

Hmmm

Do you catch those when they try to get your chickens or just in general?

I never have a problem with them trying to get my chickens, they would much rather eat cat food left out on the porch.

If they were getting into my run I wouldn't release them, but since they aren't causing problems, we just co exist.

I think I must have scared them badly, haven't seen any in 6 weeks now.
