only one is older than him (she is 3 yrs) he is a year and a half old. 1 is the same age and the others are 9 months old. I think he is being beat up by the younger girls! maybe that is the reason why he has gone coockoo! they still pick on him some! others say have said they've been pulling his feathers so yeah....

Sometimes my hens groom the roosters. The rooster stands there while the hens pick stuff off him. The rooster seems to enjoy it, and often close their eyes, and it looks more like affection to me.

You are better off with a gentle roosters like him. Most of what I see is frostbite. He has a huge comb and will lose some of it. The feather lose could be from pecking or it could be from molting. Some of my birds are still molting, it has been a weird molting year.

My bantam Phoenix rooster will hop on my lap so I will scratch down his neck. He closes his eyes & soaks it up. Jumps down & goes back to managing his mini flock!

I also have a hen that just started molting at the end of Dec. It has been a weird molting year.

I have a banty roo that stays with my large birds.

he was acquired at a small game auction in with several batches of hens I bought. there were 3 total. caught the other 2 and sold them. the 1 I have left was too quick. so I left him.

he has been in no about 2 years and gets along ok with my big birds. I have 9 adult roos.

My smallest rooster spends most of his time with my 2 peahens and 1 peacock, but I don't know if that counts as a good answer to your question.

Has anyone ever had another rooster put gashes in another roos back?

My cockerel has two gahes in his back,no idea what happened,could my head roo have done this.

if the were fighting and cockerel went to run and older roo caught him from behind.

any aerial preds around? hawk or owl
