My beautiful cockerel Chief came out of the coop this morning like this! He is behaving normally for the most part and navigating ok. But I need to know what to do for this. He is the same age as half of the flock including those that are cockerels...14 weeks. I assume he was pecked? Or is this viral/bacterial?
It is super cold here in MI the last couple days, they freerange all day. Just now beginning to show attitude toward each other of any kind...the cockerels. Not much though yet. They bed in straw. Maybe a straw poke?
Please advise. Ty

It's hard to really see the eye in the photos.
Gather him up and take a closer look to see if there's pus, bubbles, injury or even debris in the eye that is causing the swelling.
I agree with the above post - flush with saline, but I would also press around the surrounding tissue just to make sure there's nothing in there. Apply your ointment and monitor him for other symptoms.

Well poop. I suspect respiratory issue. Best pics I can get with 2 hands lol. No considerable drainage but more like white pus inside eye at tear duct corner. Eye appears fine beneath swollen lid. No draining when light pressure applied. Irrigated with saline and neosporin applied. He was such a good boy for having very little human touching since the brooder. So I’d assume there is an antibiotic at TSC readily available?

Have you had respiratory disease in your flock before?
I would try to remove the pus.
You can try giving Tylosin, but that would need to be ordered online. Most antibiotics were pulled from shelves last year.

Both of these places carry Tylosin but they are sold out, it can be hard to get

In order for me to remove what very little pus there is I would need several more hands and would risk damaging his eye as it is against his eye and just not much there. I don’t feel comfortable trying that unless he worsens.
And no. This is the first of any medical issue within the flock other than a B deficiency in one of my ducks.
I’ll start with the terramycin. THANX GUYS!
