Rooster feet - now losing toes!

That's Roo boy and his poor little feet the day I noticed it.
I soaked his feet in Epsom salt and gave him a good oatmeal bath.
Didn't seem to help much...but he enjoys being pampered.
The other day when he lost the toe, boyfriend and I soaked his foot in Witch Hazel, stops the bleeding.
He also received a nice coat of blue kote after the aloe/vitamin E.
Another thing that I found helpful was the spray on bandage you can use on dogs or cats.
I'm trying everything here! xD
I hope you have as few issues as possible! My little guy seems to be a problem child...he was attacked by my Mom's Roo one day and I thought he was going to die, he lived in the house for a few weeks, made a full recovery, got the frost bite...dealing with that...pulled a big feather out of his butt, bled a bunch ....hens were all over that. He's just a goofy boy who now sleeps in a nesting box next to his *now broody* girlfriend. >_<
Sorry I talked about mine so much...just figured if the problem is the same, perhaps it'll help you out!
Let us all know how he's doing!! ^_^
Strange that he doesn't crow I guess, but oh well...makes the transition from outdoor to house chicken that much easier!

yes, if you read my first posts you'll see that I went to the poop page and nothing matched.
I'm doing the mite/lice dusting this weekend to see if it helps.
He eats crumbles, greens/weeds, scratch grains, and leftovers just like everyone else, but he is the only one with a yellow butt!
I've got antibiotics and electrolytes in the water, but they don't drink as much when its in there.

WOW!!!!!! I never thought I would see another bird with the same feet as mine.. I put antibiotic cream on them and wrapped them to keep them clean. BAAAD IDEA!! When the bandage came off so did the skin and then the little toe. Poor girl lost all but 2 toes. She lived just fine. Ran funny but ended up being the best pet because i picked her up every day. It was frostbite. Sorry to say he might lose all his toes. If he can stand on the nubs he should be fine

Good Luck

Hmm...
have you given him a bath, his butt isn't blocked up at all with poo in the feathers is it?
(I know that sounded real legit!)
I guess I'm out of ideas...well darnit I tried.
:s
I hope it's nothing to worry about.
I hate it when people have to worry about their critters...our critters are better friends than most of our human counterparts....

sorry I did read that but forgot.

okay I would try giving him some kind of probiotics, greek plain yogurt or kefir or butter milk, because when you give antibiotics they kill good and bad bacteria. as long as you are giving antibiotics and for at least 3 days after you stop you should give him probiotics.

I figure he doesnt crow cuz good ol' Charlie Brown was already the adult established roo and this guy (Schroeder) came in as a chick last summer.
The banty roo crows, but Charlie can't catch him cuz he's small. Maybe Schroeder just doesnt want his butt kicked! but I have fun callin him my gay rooster, especially with him being so colorful.

It's fine that you talk about yours. You're proud of him!
No "house chicken" here. My GF is a nurse and would definitely NOT allow poultry in the house unless it was for dinner!

Frostbite with skinny dark ends necrotic. Will fall off. Keep bird in dry location until wounds heal. He will likely never be able to perch properly or walk well hereafter but can still live a long quality life.

I have a year old cochin hen that had some sort of accident when she was hatched. She had to have the first join on two of her toes taken off. She's fat and happy. Your roo's feet will be fine with a few less toes. Def make sure the open wound doen't get infected. I'd worm him if you have not already and spoil him for the next few days. Also might want to put some vasoline on his comb and his legs. Good luck, he's so handsome!!!!

no offense taken

They like the fact that they have a nicer sway than the girls. I have tried to explain to them that sitting on a standard cochin hen with your tail in her face will not little chickens make. Maybe I should buy them a picture book

I guess that's bantams for you
