Rooster has raw red feet with scabs?

If you absolutely can't soak then oil and vaseline them. Any vegetable oil will work, I use castor because it's very thick. You can use coconut oil, but you need to put the vaseline over it to really suffocate the mites. Be generous with the application. Scaly mites are not as contagious as others, often they will only affect one or a few birds in a flock. You will need to reapply several times a week until his legs look more normal. It can take a while.

Thank you so much for your thoughts I will definitely be applying oil and jelly to his feet. It’s 100% okay for them to eat right? Because I know that he will be messing with them!

To me it almost looks like a combination of scaly leg mites and perhaps a bacterial infection. After cleaning I would be tempted to coat his legs with an antibiotic ointment and continue treating until I saw improvement.

Do you think theracyn would do the trick?

Is he sore? Does he walk okay?

He walks completely normal and doesn’t seem to be sore at all!

Not familiar with Theracyn, but any antibiotic ointment would help with smothering potential mites and hopefully addressing a possible bacterial infection. The condition may also be simply a result of old age.

Good to hear. I don't ask in order to diagnose, I'm nowhere near expert enough for that, but just to add to my knowledge base

EDIT——— okay now that I know that to do I don’t know when to do it. Is it better to apply the oil and Vaseline during the day or at night. I know that my chickens will mess with it more during the day than at night, and I know that at night they tend to me more calm. I’m gonna just go ahead and treat not only my rooster but my 7 hens as well just to be really safe and get the mites out all at once. I would rather do it during the day but will it be as affective if they are able to pick and mess at it. Please let me know your thought, thanks again!!

If it's easier to take them off the roosts at night and do it, then do it then. It doesn't really matter, do what works for you and for them. I have not had issues with them messing with what I put on their legs. It may get dirty, dirt/dust will stick to the oil/vaseline, but I wouldn't worry about it, the important thing is to smother the mites. Something thick works best for that, the Theracyn might not be thick enough. Some use Nu-stock ointment and find it works well. That might be a better choice.
