Rooster is waking up the neighbor. *MORE UPDATES*

Any insulation will do this. Foam is just easier to work with and less scratch than the pink stuff

I would get a thermometer for inside the coop, make sure there is air circulation and just monitor the temps for a few days after installing.

OK, I am going to dissent from the majority of the group. I am thinking about this a little differently. It is currently legal for you to own a rooster on your property. It is legal for me to have my Walker Coonhound on my property. Your rooster is crowing at 6:00 in the morning, potentially waking up your neighbor. My Walker Coonhound is let out at 6am to use the bathroom. My coonhound gets the scent of a rabbit and for the next 15 minutes runs around the fenced in 1/2 acre baying - waking up the neighbor. I don't hear it because my bedroom is on the opposite endWhat is the difference? We need to be good neighbors, even if our neighbors are not so good.

My neighbor shot my dog in the leg with a bb gun and called a complaint into the sherriff's dept. I decided to have him de-barked so as to be a good neighbor (no it is not cruel)

I am afraid that this woman may try to harm your chickens. She could also make a big enough rukus which would result in it no longer being legal to have your rooster. I know that you feel that this woman is having lots of personal problems and is just taking it out on your rooster. This may be so, but do your best so that it doesn't get worse for you or your chickens. Good Luck!!

If it were a dog, would she call and complain about that?? Or a cat wailing because another is in heat? It is what it is, and it's natural for him to crow. I think people have become too comfortable with complaining and then people bending over to accomodate them....

I have a neighbor that has 2 dogs that bark non-stop---non-stop. I can't do anything about it so I deal with it. Sometimes you can't even hear them (although you can). I think eventually your neighbor will get used to him and sleep right through it--kinda like having a set of train tracks in your back yard...eventually, you do sleep right through it. I would just assure your neighbor that although it is waking her now, she will become used to it and eventually will sleep right through it. It's not worth breaking your kids hearts to satisfy her.

Which is exactly what I'd do! If they're legal, then there's nothing people can do, so tell your neighbor to butt out of your life and worry more about what's going on in her own. My boys (2 of them) start crowing about 5:30 AM at the first hint of light, so I think your neighbor is just being crabby and trying to start something by saying your boy is crowing at 4:00 AM.
