Rooster is waking up the neighbor. *MORE UPDATES*

She suggested that I keep my rooster and ignore my neighbor

Since you are completely within your rights to have him, then I agree. If she doesn't like roosters crowing, she can move somewhere they are not allowed.

Good point, but she's lived here longer than I have so in her eyes, that's what she'd be thinking. Everyone in my neighborhood has only about 1/2 acre so it's not a rural area, but like I said it is LEGAL.

I just figured out a way to partially close the windows to the hen house. They'll still be propped open plus there's lots of vents under the roof on two sides. I did tell her I'd close the windows but I think it's still too warm......I'm no lying this way.

Do you have access to a baby monitor or a pair of walkie talkies that you can borrow? If you can set them up and get them to work, you should know one way or another if your neighbour's complaint is valid.

Like I stated before, he is NOT crowing at 3 or 4 or even 5 am. He crows between 5:45 and 6:15 in the morning, no earlier. My windows are open, and her's are not. I'm closer to the coop even. My husband agrees with me about the crowing time.

Now I'm so aggravated.

, that every time I hear him crow today, I start grinding my teeth. This woman has really ruined it for me

I believe you - but I'm personally a heavy sleeper and can sleep through all but the loudest noises.

You are in a tough spot - even 5:45 is far too early for most people. Good luck - I hope it works out for you and your neighbour!

I'm afraid that your neighbor has made your rooster part of her problems... I live on family land in a rural area (I have over 100 chickens including 20 or so Roosters and over 300 quail that call all thru the night) so my problems with neighbors involve other issues, but problems are going to always come up! So... you have to pick and choose your times to stand your ground. Me personally,,, I think that this would be a time to stand your ground. There is no way that your Rooster is ruining her life! I say that she is going to have to learn to live with it. I say that because you are not doing anything wrong. I say: "Long Live the Rooster!"

If I were standing in front of you right now, I'd give you a high five!

Funny thing, I think my rooster heard her complaining about him. He's been super quiet today!
