Rooster laying eggs? 😆😆

See this has put me off trying to sex silkies!
Almost everyone agreed that my silkie was definitely a cockerel, given its large comb and wattles.
But ‘he’ just laid an egg. Either I have a (circus bound) male egg layer or a very male looking silkie.
Has anyone else had hens that look so roosterish?
