Yes - animals are not bound by the same sense of morals/ethics about that as most humans are. To the rooster that hen is just another hen, not his mother.

Not only will he try to, but also he will be successful. Inbreeding problems are far less significant with chickens than with mammals.

It's only "creepy" through your lens - to the animal kingdom it's nature. Line-breeding/in-breeding can actually be beneficial to a program when done correctly.
