He's letting his hens know he's got some food for them, I love it when they do that, I think it's so sweet. Although not all my Roos do it, some breeds must be selfish,

Yep, it's pretty cute to watch a rooster pick up the new food in his mouth and make clucking sounds to the hens hens to say "hey! looke what I have for you", that's a good rooster taking care of his hens and trying to win them over for favors! Some are better at doing this them others!
