I can tell in this picture because of his huge comb. Most pullets don’t get a red comb until they are laying or maybe it’s almost laying!!So this may sound ignorant, but how can I tell? When looking at my chickens.

The Barred one is easy due the lighter bars, indicating he's Double Barred. Plus the large red comb.
The other two are Black Breasted Red, or Wildtype colored. Males have black breast feathers, females have red/salmon breast feathers, & are ground colored.
