Hello, I have had a rooster for over a year now. I’ve took to this website before about the same problem with the same rooster probably in January or February, no help. My problem is that my rooster is very rough and aggressive with his mating practices. It hasn’t changed after he started to get rough. I highly doubt somebody would take in a rooster near me. I’ve tried spur trimming. Chicken saddles are a no no. I only have one hen I can handle, the rest freak out alerting my rooster. I fear my rooster will flog me like he tried to do with my cat when he was laundering in their area. I’ve considered separation, please help.

I do not tolerate a rough rooster or one that I am afraid of. He would be not be around anymore. Sorry that you are dealing with this. Do you need a rooster for breeding or for protection? I have found that hens do fine without one, but I do enjoy having a nice one around.

He’s never attacked me, ever. It’s just when the hens get scared, he goes ape-mode. He gets all loud and runs over to them. He’s also the hens saving grace probably every other day. We have a ton of hawks in our area, and he’s really good with watching the sky and keeping them safe while they run outside. I don’t want to discard him, he’s an amazing rooster besides his treatment towards my hens.
