Poor Hei Hei. You did the right thing taking him back home. I hope he feels better soon. :hugs
I would try giving him small meals often. If an animal is starving, giving it too much food at once can overload its system.
Yeah I agree. I witnessed my hens drinking from my pond in the heat of summer. They drank so much that they were sick.

Today, makes it one week that Hei Hei was rehomed.
This is the before and after photo
of the day that I dropped him off and today.
My baby lost his beautiful tail feathers,
he has evidence of being pecked everywhere.
He has scabs and some wounds that are still trying to heal.
He was not eating or drinking he lost a lot of weight.
He would just hide in the coop most of the day everyday
sitting on a nesting box.
He walks like he is in pain, and very shaky.
He keeps spitting out saliva like a baby slobbering everywhere.
Does this mean he will die soon????😭😭😭😭😭
It hurts him when I hold me or pick him up.
His voice is very faint and different.
The updates that I was getting all this time
were nothing compared to what I seen today.
Last Sunday was the last time I had went to see him.
I cannot stand to see him suffering anymore.
I took him home to recover and now I'm back to square one.
I am looking into trying another home
that will provide better care and more attention
to make sure this does not happen again.
I feel so horrible for allowing this in the first place.

How awful for Hei Hei and for you!
I think you should just keep him with you. That’s what he wants, anyway.
Unless he’s become a problem for you to keep him, I don’t think life on the farm is his cup of tea.

I really thought that his chicken instinct was going to kick in when he was there. :he:he:he
I feel horrible, he came out of there like he went to those chicken factories.

@Hei 20,

Just wanted to say, you did the right thing all the way through.
You rehomed him for his happiness, then brought him back because he was unhappy. Your bond is admirable and I think he was pining for you.

I hope one day, as he could live a good few years, you can get a garden and his own little hens. For now, I think with you is the best home for your adorable boy.:ya

What a lovely example of roo-human friendship and love ! I have no doubt he will recover well, but I am so sorry he was unhappy. This just shows that in no way were you being cruel by keeping him here.... :love

don't worry! You thought you were doing the right thing. Now it seems, maybe keeping him with you is best for what he needs since he’s bonded to you.
