Why are you whispering?![]()
That’s why you shouldn’t keep roosters together like that. It’s the most unnatural way to keep them. Rarely have I heard anyone mention this when I criticize bachelor pads for people who are unable to cull unwanted roosters.
You did wonderfully and he loves you for it. You can tell just be looking at his little faceYes, I tried.![]()
I’m sorry, but I have to add something.I so agree.
I'm happy to keep brother roos together.... but WITH HENS.
However, that is not to say that they will be happier as bachelors than culled.
If you can't keep them try to rehome.
BUT back to the subject, Hei Hei does not have another roo, so this is irrelevant really.
I’m sorry, but I have to add something.
Both your arguments are based mostly on opinion. It isn’t natural to throw any chickens into a pen together. Bachelor pads actually do happen in nature. So throwing a bunch of roosters together in a pen is just as unnatural as throwing a bunch of hens in a pen.
You can’t rehome every rooster. Most people keep about one rooster to every ten hens, but there are many who don’t keep a rooster at all. Rehoming them isn’t really a good option, unless you’re rehoming to butcher. That’s fine. But expecting every rooster you rehome to get a big flock of hens all to himself is simply not realistic.
Please stop arguing your opinion as if it’s fact.
The issue with that is that not all roosters can be kept with hens. Many will overmate them or bully specific ones.Lets not argue about this, it is unrelated.
Obviously bachelor pads are better than culling, but the are NOT better than rehoming- if you can get him a home with hens where he will be happy.
My roos are happy.
I'm sure yours are too.
So lets keep the peace as we are all entitled to our own opinions- not that I ever stated they were facts.
This thread is about Hei Hei.
I came here to support and advise @Hei 20, not to argue.
I'm leaving it at that.
The issue with that is that not all roosters can be kept with hens. Many will overmate them or bully specific ones.
I’m glad your roosters are happy and that you have the luxury of rehoming them when you want to. I understand your opinion, but the fact that bachelor pads is naturally occurring is a fact, so it’s inaccurate to say they’re unnatural.
