Rooster tries to attack husband

Some people get nasty roosters and some are nice, roosters will also dominate certain people and others they will leave alone. Attacking and aggressive behavior is prevalent in all roosters. Although all breeds have a tendency to be mean, breeds sometimes can also have to do with it, for example you would have a lot better luck with a buckeye than you would a red sexlink or delaware. Unless you some how hurt the rooster it would probably be enough to leave you alone.

I have had cockerels that just didn't get it! There's a genetic component to this behavior, it's not all about management. I had a hatchery bantam boy a few years ago who started attacking at eight weeks of age! It was kind of funny, but not good. He had a one track mind, and never reformed. Useless!

Did he turn into chicken soup?

My rooster is an Ameraucana

That's up to you. For training him to keep his distance I would pen him every time he came forward. Than I would release him later to see if he moves off. Stand square at him, never give him your back, even your side can be seen as a sign of submission.

He will either get it quickly, or if he's dumb, it will just slow him down. Out of 2 aggressive roosters I've dealt with, one was fixed after a month, the other was fixed when he lost his head. Good luck.
Oh, I would get stupid crazy on them and going Pentecostal...entering the run, stomping my feet in a holy dance, waving my arms, speaking in tongues... "you want a piece of me?" If he don't abide, then it's on, and it's off to the kitchen where you will be the invited guest, but you won't be leaving afterward.

I got too many meat cleavers, pressure cookers, deep fryers, cast iron skillets and such, to deal with any Tom Fullery and nonsense.

I rule this roost, and don't have time for any mean ungreatful A-holes, hen or rooster, who have been well kept, spoiled and eat better than me. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
