Rooster/ what is on his comb?

We just picked up a new Black Star rooster yesterday. He is a year old and
is now molting. But there are black spots on his very large comb. Just
wondering what they are.

They could be insect bites, the result of pecking or maybe fowl pox. If you can post a pic hopefully it may shed some light.

They are, normally, just a result of a pecking incident, scrape or speck of mud.

Did he come from a cold climate, it could be from winter frostbite .
