In the Brooder
I'm in Louisiana. The last two days have been very cold, the lows were in the teens and highs in the 30s. Unusual for us, but the coop and yard are dry and he's the only bird with this problem. Water is frozen everywhere so I've been bundled up and breaking up ice in the yard, with the hens close behind like I have 9 shadows waiting to drink up whatever water they can find.
Swelling hasn't changed, only noticeable when up close. He just won't put any weight on that leg now. He's been laying in a bed of hay under where the hens roost since last night.
We put him in one spot and he's kind of scooting around a bit, turned around and has been clucking a little when the hens come by to see him. He hasn't tried to crow all day so I am concerned about him being in pain. I'm just not sure what to do.
