I'm tagging people in because I don't have roosters, or have had to deal with sour crop.

Your trying to help and that counts as something! I appreciate you!I'm tagging people in because I don't have roosters, or have had to deal with sour crop.
I would start with Baytril and de-worming.@casportpony, how would you treat a sour crop?
I have a regular vet and I called them this morning to see if they could help but they said they can't because they don't do avian treatment. There are no avian vets around here anywhere.Do you have a regular vet who you could ask as a favor to prescribe some nystatin oral liquid to use? Many cases of sour crop can be due to past impacted crop that has been going on for some time. It can be bacterial or fungal. There can be another major problem that has been causing the crop to not function properly. Sometimes the gizzard stops working right, and will cause the crop to not empty. Sour crop is hard to treat successfully. If you learn how to pass a feeding tube, you could get a nother pair of hands and irrigate his crop with water. That way you could empty the sour contents, and then flush the crop with fresh clean water. I have never successfully treated a crop problem when it has become sour. Hopefully, you can help him. @casportpony, how would you treat a sour crop?
Here is some tube feeding info:

Thank you! I'll have to order it and start him on it. Is there anything I can do for him in the meantime while waiting for it?You can worm with Valbazen or Safe Liquid Goat Wormer. Baytril is an antibiotic that is banned for chickens, just to let you know, but is used for treating some bad infections that other antibiotics won’t touch. You can buy it online if you wish to use it, and I would get the 10% liquid. Dosage is 0.05 ml per pound which would be 0.4 ml for an 8 pound rooster. Give it orally twice a day for 5 days. Here is a link for it, and it is $25 for the 10% liquid:

Let us know if you need dosage for wormer.
