If all goes well, I will own a rooster soon. I think I have been more focused on possible aggression than other attributes.
I did not know that roosters crow at night. Will they crow even if in their coop? Will a property light that is on all night long cause a rooster to crow?
When I go out later and check on things, I hear one of my hens give a warning sound. It's more of a muffled sound not an alarming sound like I hear during the day sometimes. I know she is letting the others know something is outside of the coop. I think they can see me out there, but not sure. Will the rooster crow for the same reason?

Normally young roosters will crow early in the morning, But as they get older they’ll tone it down. No rooster is aggressive to the point where you have to kill or get rid of it, It’s just that some may need a lot more taming to stop aggression.

Roosters will crow at any time just like little kids will always find the mud puddles! I have 7 roos and they crow from very early morning until dark.
A good rooster will let his flock know when danger is near or present and a very good rooster will protect his ladies. A good rooster will also respect you and your space. IMO the boys aren't for snuggling and spoiling. My boys definitely get treats and such but when I walk into the coop or the run they keep their reasonable distance.
Good luck!!

Do you think the property light will have an affect on him crowing at night?

Why aren’t the boys for snuggling? My rooster gets all the treats he wants, He will just sit in my hand, And sometimes he will crow when I’m holding him lol . I treat my roo the same way i treat my hens, Like pets and friends. But i can see how some people dont have time for rooster taming.

How old is your rooster and what breed?

I have seen many temperamental roosters, and I have been flogged by them in the past so I stopped cuddling the boys years ago. Haven't had a rooster not respect my space since.
