Roosting on top of the coop!

I have 2 - 2 month old sebrights, I know they like to be up high! But it has got out of hand! Last night I go to check on them and they were on top of the coop! How to stop it? I put them on the roost inside the coop about 3 ft from the ground, they seem to like it as they have been on and off it most of the day. Maybe they will sleep on that perch, but they keep getting on top of the coop.

Is the coop roof under a run roof? Is it exposed to possible predators? Do you have a secure run with something over the top?

This run is temporary, as im trying to figure something else out in their main coop. The run does not have a top over it. But they do stay in, very close to the house. I know this probably doesnt mean anything, but the only animal that come even close to the chicken coops are deer. I will get a pic in a few mins.

When my girls were younger it was the same story. Very common. Took a while to train the to go inside the coop. I actually had to set a small lamp (I used heat lamp) in the coop an hour before sunset then turn it off after they went in. Was still a lot of work but that was first step in right direction.

This run is temporary, as im trying to figure something else out in their main coop. The run does not have a top over it. But they do stay in, very close to the house. If you have deer you have owls, hawks, raccoons and a lot more out there. Shoot I have those here in the middle of town!

Raccoons are pretty much eliminated, as well as opossums.

Also, they are in with my 4 4 month old silkies. They get along great! I have 2 different roosts for them. A high one outside of the nesting area, and one inside. They like the high one, but i might not be able to do the heatlamp because it may be to crowded.

So from what I am seeing here....
Small run/coop combo with a fenced area for more space using the chicken wire. Correct me if I am wrong please.

I don't see anything shading the coop but abundant sunshine. Have you cut vents into the coop? It could be quite hot inside with stale air.

How many birds using this coop? If there are more than 4 including your Sebrights it could be they are getting pushed out due to how tiny they are.

It doesn't have to be the greatest it just needs to be effective.
You have another coop? Any reason you cannot move them in now?
