It's probably just the weather. I have birds older than that and are still laying. My birds don't lay that much. They start up early like January, then pick up to full steam by early Spring (egg every other day) then go broody.... then pick up again then go broody again... then slow down and completely stop for the Winter. Right about now, they will slow or stop because of the hot weather.

i have only one pure rosecomb hen, but she has at least three children (all half silkie) here are some pics:

Tinychicky, your hen is just lovely and I have to say those crosses are pretty neat! That little pullet is just so sure of herself ... and she looks like she has some modern, model haircut and is ready to strut the catwalk

Very cute

Sweat, I just love looking at all the varieties. It's really interesting to me to see all the different types and head qualities on the different colors. Your blacks are beautiful but, look far different than mine. That's what's so fun about breeding these guys.. I guess it's the same with all breeds but, I've really noticed it with the rosecombs. I can walk down the isle and pick out another person's bird right away and when I see a new breeder, their birds are also distinctive to them.

Those crele boys remind me a lot of my wheatens. Their tails have a super size and curve, type great, lobes great but, the combs need help and just aren't as appealing as the blacks, bbreds and brown reds. I think that blue red splash is a really pretty color and so it the blue red. I can't wait to get a blue wheaten boy... Im sure it will be similar.

What are you planning to do with that red pyle roo? Can you put him to whites?

Msbear,
Yes, some of the varieties need work, I would like to get better barring in the crele and larger combs. The red pyle roo can be bred to White or BB Red hens and you will get a percentage of each variety. I love working with them.

My black rosecomb pullet won 1st, BV, BB, Champion RCCL, Reserve Grand Champion Bantam, and Reserve Grand Champion of Show today at the Lebanon County Poultry Show! My other black rosecomb pullet won 2nd, RV, RB, and Reserve RCCL
