Im pretty sure you'll get mixes if you breed bbred or blue red to black but, you can breed those offspring back to either to get more of the same.. I THINK

I don't have bbreds... these are wheatens. I would not just do a pen of mixes because that's what you'll get. If you want to focus on another color, I would contact a member of the federation whom already has that color and improve from there. An outcross has its consequences. Im purposely trying to improve on certain traits of both lines but realize I will loose color in the wheatens and brassy birds may pop up in the blacks for a while but, I think it's worth what I will gain over the long term. ..Im hoping

All you need is a blue hen to put with yours and you can get blues... Once you get a blue male, put it back to the blue hen to get splash. I have a couple blue pullets growing out now that I will be finding homes for as I don't mess with bl/bl/sp They'll be ready around Oct.

I am headed out for college next year so I can only keep one breed and my breed and color of choice is blue, black, and splash bantam faverolles so no more room for me at least not till I get my own place after college

I asked Katherine this same question, and she says that if you breed black to bbred, you'll get 100% "black red"(looks like brown red color pattern). If you breed those black reds together, you'll get 25% bbred. If you get a black red male, and breed him to the bbred female, you'll get 50% bbred. So, I guess I'll be breeding my black and bbred together.

Erin, those wheatens are just gorgeous. Can't wait to get mine.
