Ross Acres (Ross Bantams) Exhibition Call Ducks

Woowee I have been BUSY. I had to run the poultry show at the Dickson County Fair and it was HOT. It got up to 103 degrees (110 Feels Like Temp) and the barn did not have any air conditioning. I made sure to keep all the birds cool by placing 10 or more fans throughout the barn. Kept all doors and windows open for air circulation. I also continuosly added ice cubes to each bird's water cup so they had cold water.
I brought atleast 30 birds. I don't know the exact number, but it was the most birds I've ever brought to a show. It was a lot of work and I will probably never bring that many birds again lol. I brought all of my partridge Wyandotte bantams, both white Wyandotte bantams, most of my call ducks, my buff ducks, and a bunch of Dutch Hookbills. The Buffs and Hookbills are brand new on my farm and I'm so excited to breed them to get the numbers back up! Buffs are under "watch" and hookbills are under "critical" based on the Livestock Conservancy website. I will be starting a thread soon on my endangered breeds.
I won many awards, including Show Champion! It was definitely a surprise, since my birds were looking a little rough due to the heat. Usually Harper wins over the calls, but this time her sister Harriett won!

I also won best Wyandotte with my white pullet. Best partridge Wyandotte was won by #11, which is going to @Rose_adamaj ! I can't wait to see how she does with these birds. I will be delivering them to her next week. She has named them Tina and Guy.

Congratulations 🎉 🥳🥳
Show Champion again!
I’m looking forward to knowing what that feels like, with either Tina or Guy!
Thank you for giving me this opportunity.

Hurricane Francine will be making landfall soon. I'm nowhere near the coast, but we will be getting the tornado/flood risk here in TN. I am ordering some shower curtains to use as a temporary roof on some of my pens. I built the last few pens with just welded wire as the roof, to keep predators out and birds in. I didn't want to buy sheets of metal at the store because I'm cheap lol. So I've been watching fb marketplace for cheap sheets of metal.
Anyway, I figured with the 4-5 inches of rain we are expected to get, I need to cover atleast a portion of each pen to give shelter. Mind you, my call ducks are in raised pens (off of the ground) so I don't have to worry about mud. The shower curtains aren't meant to last long, just long enough to ride out the storm.

Do you not have a metal order shop near you? We get ours ordered in, we don't go to box stores cause it's way cheaper but the same quality
