Rotten Food Being Served to Soldiers - 10/10 update

I'm glad you got through the bottleneck even if had to come from the top down. I know how important the chain of command is, but sometimes you have to bypass the ones keeping the information from flowing upwards.

Someone else said that too. I will remove the slide show link and just leave the plain photos up. Weird. I have been using imageshack.us for about 5 years with no problems.

Wifezilla My son just returned from Iraq on tuesday and I told him about the rotten food. He knew of that base and had heard the food was bad but also said that it wasnt that bad where he was. He did have food poisoning a few weeks back but he thought he came from some gatorade he bought in the PX. I am glad something is being done to look into the problems. No one should be forced to eat that mess.

Just to clarify, some one said Halliburton was owned by Arabs and technically it is not.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halliburton

“Halliburton
(NYSE: HAL) is the world's second largest [6] oilfield services corporation with operations in more than 70 countries. It has hundreds of subsidiaries, affiliates, branches, brands and divisions worldwide and employs over 50,000 people.[5]
The company has its headquarters in the North Belt office in Houston, Texas, and in offices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (opened March, 2007) where Chairman and CEO David J. Lesar works and resides, "to Focus [the] Company’s Eastern Hemisphere Growth."[7] The company will remain incorporated in the United States.[8][9][10]
Halliburton's major business segment is the Energy Services Group (ESG). ESG provides technical products and services for petroleum and natural gas exploration and production. Halliburton's former subsidiary, KBR, is a major construction company of refineries, oil fields, pipelines, and chemical plants. Halliburton announced on April 5, 2007 that it had finally broken ties with KBR, which had been its contracting, engineering and construction unit as a part of the company for 44 years.[11]”

“The Wall Street Journal reported in 2001 that a subsidiary of Halliburton Energy Services called Halliburton Products and Services Ltd. (HPS) opened an office in Tehran. The company, HPS, operated on the ninth floor of a new north Tehran tower block. Although HPS was incorporated in the Cayman Islands in 1975 and is "non-American", it shares both the logo and name of Halliburton Energy Services and, according to Dow Jones Newswires offers services from Halliburton units worldwide through its Tehran office. Such behavior, undertaken while Cheney was CEO of Halliburton, may have violated the Trading with the Enemy Act. A Halliburton spokesman, responding to inquiries from Dow Jones, said "This is not breaking any laws. This is a foreign subsidiary and no US person is involved in this. No US person is facilitating any transaction. We are not performing directly in that country." Later Dave Lesar would book his own flights to the Tehran office through the UK arm of KBR. No legal action has been taken against the company or its officials.[27]”

Obviously, the Trading With The Enemies Act was never implemented, but there are criminal acts rife throughout this firm and its crony no-bid contracts.

Both my sister and BIL have been in Iraq. The food, the construction the weapons and armor are ALL shameful. Some camps are resorts, others are hell holes. We all have a responsibility to be voices of advocacy and outrage. One voice may not do much but many voices combined will have an impact.

Call the White House - 1-202-456-1111 leave a message let them know you are paying attention to something other than Kim Kardashian...... As long as bread and circuses work the PTB can do whatever they want. This is NOT a left/right issue - forget about that! It's an us/them issue. There are more of us than there are of them and they need us to quietly go about our lives in quiet debt slavery cursing at each other over religion and marriage while we are all being shafted. Call the war profiteers what they are!

Got a Skype call from Calvin this morning. He had an interesting day. His shift was changed again (I think we are almost on a dozen shift changes in a year

) and he said that they put him in a warehouse store room. He was basically exiled. They seemed to be keeping him out of the defac. He even had the "day off" when the vets inspected. Then a higher up came by and thanked him for all he did in bringing this issue to light. He was shocked but happy when he gave him a coin (I guess that is a kind of atta-boy thing). Then there was some kind of meeting and Calvin was then given a clip board and removed from "exile" and now has to go around checking everything out. LOL

He also noticed while exercising his newfound clipboard powers that there were higher-ups from KBR in the defac and there was much yelling and chewing out of KBR contractors.

So this all tells me that things ARE being done. If it was just my son against a group of either incompetent and/or corrupt people, I doubt anything would have changed. I do believe that the public attention, people contacting senators/congress people and having the photos in the public eye made all the difference.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all who got the word out.

I will be sure to post any new developments.

Wifezilla - I am SO SO glad things are being done, and yes thats definately a sign that it was more a localized thing on the commanding officers on site or what not. I am wondering if someone was gettings cuts for keeping their mouths shut and what not... I am glad that things are attempting to be improved and am so happy that Calvin isn't in any trouble!
