Why does my hens egg feel like jello or rubbery? It has a cord or something attached to the shell? What's going on? Please advise

I had one like that once. She has laid soft eggs and no shelled eggs. Shes 9 months old. She lays a few soft shelled and is coming along. Is your hen young as well?

Hi there,
frow.gif
and welcome to BYC!

I have never had a hen lay an egg like this before, although I have seen pics of eggs like this here on BYC. It may be due to being a young layer and they don't yet have their egg machines in gear. The birds may be shedding some internal tissue from the ovaries or uterus. You might post this question in the Egglaying and Behavior section here of BYC for more info...

She is about 9 or 10 months, she's been laying for months and this us the first like this. Thank you all for your help

Welcome to BYC! Young pullets often lay soft or rubbery eggs until they get their egg laying in gear. Also, some of my hens were laying strange eggs, I wormed them and this seemed to take care of the problem. x2 on posting in the forum TwoCrows suggested.
