Rubbish Coop and pen

The 6 ex-batts arrived today and 3 quickly went up into the coop for a look around

While 3 stayed underneath

For some reason they liked the top of the ramp and 4 of them tried to sleep in there when it started to get dark but I encouraged them into the coop and blocked off the exit

Love the coop and the ingenous use of materials!

Those ladies look in great condition for ex-battery hens. Here in the U.S. they routinely de-beak most of the battery hens, but it doesn't look like they did that to yours.

Did you get the hens through a rescue group? If so, I wonder if the rescue group rehabs the hens a bit. Some of the photos I've seen of ex-battery hens are pretty bad:feathers missing, sores, and scrawny build seem typical. Again, maybe that's just here in the States.

If you dont mind me asking, what state are you in Mudshark? I am trying to get some ex-battery hens here in Ohio and I cant find any. I was just wondering if you were in ohio.
