Run Winterization

Looks like your birds will be nice and cozy! Beautiful flock, by the way.
I do agree with @black_cat, a little more ventilation would make it perfect!

I was wondering if it was going to be enough. I can definitely cut some back. The rest of the run isn’t tight though, there are air gaps everywhere as well.

You're mainly trying to keep wind chill from being an issue, as well as any stormy crosswinds from dumping precipitation in. So as long as you have enough coverage for that, I'd leave good size gaps open on all sides if possible.

It’s definitely possible, I will cut it back on Wednesday (I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday is my day off) and I’ll post new pictures

I would worry about it getting really hot in there too. Think about a greenhouse. The venting you have is about what my small greenhouse has. It gets over 80 in there when it is FREEZING out.

I would remove all the plastic on the side the wind does not normally come from.

I love this!!
You could add a thermometer inside the run to keep track of the temperature.
Last winter, we had snow that went up to the halfway mark on my coop. Depending on how much snow you get, (and this year we are suppose to get more snow) this may work perfectly.

Good morning. In addition to increasing the gaps at the top of the walls, I would remove all the plastic from the wall opposite the coop. That would allow for plenty of ventilation. And it would allow the chickens to get on unobstructed view of the world. At least until snow piles up. We leave our far wall completely open. If a storm hits just right, the first copule feet of our run gets a little snow. But not much. Good luck.
