*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

I let Trouble out. He just got his name. Lol and he went straight for Romeo. I guess he is the only one that Trouble See's a a threat. Trouble doesn't mess with any other male.

"Every duckhouse has a pecking order which is established early on and then again if a new duck is introduced to the flock. This ritual can be quite vicious but they will very quickly settle down. You should not interfere unless one duck is being denied food or water. If this does happen, put out an extra food and water supply away from the primary source."
Guess I have to do this..

Quick question are runner

I'm sorry but I really don't know. I think they all are the same. Sorry I can't help you.

That is great advise. Mine will be coming up on that age shortly Right now there doesn't seem to be one dominant over another.

best to let them have at it then? Just keep a eye on them?
I don't let mine get to the blood point [except they seem to want to do their fighting at the fence] so they get their wings beat up at times. '

I had 4 Muscovy drakes at one time and none could live together with out fighting so 2 went to new homes. that only left me with 2 drakes that had to live separately. Now I have added 4 Runner drakes into the mix. No telling what this may be like but my Muscovy drake is a fighter so he will not be allowed to beat up the Runners. My old Muscovy drake passed away this year so I am down to only 1 Muscovy drake. It's a shame even when there are plenty of females the boys just cannot get along.

I think I have 6 males and 8 females but that could change.I know that's not a good ratio.

So is anyone going to answer my question?

I was hoping someone more familiar might give you a solid answer. I will tell you what I have seen. Photo's I have seen of Runners in the UK (I belong to a few different online groups) look to me to be more of the show quality type. A little taller, a little straighter standing, not such wide shoulders, the bill with a very slightly more curved downward arc. My Runners - I am in the U.S. - are more "pet quality." Zehn is nearly buxom, with wide shoulders and a little broad across the derriere. But she's a Runner.
