*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Very handsome. How time flys. I have his older sister.

Okay where is the pic?
Holderead had recommended 1 boy for 5 girls or more for Runners, that's the ratio I'm shooting for.
Not quite sure what I'll do with the progeny that are going to be roughly 50/50 boys/girls.
My Runner drake has 7 girls and still wants more.

Wow he is beautiful!!! And he should stay that way too. Black / Chocolate / Blue Drakes shouldn't get snow feathers.... Only the girls so he can be a rainbow drake into his older years.

So you could use the snow feathers for sexing.... if you happend to miss the couple hundred eggs that were either laid or not by the time the first snow feather comes

Thanks, You know one of my Blue females has some while specks already no telling what she'll look like after her molt.

). I've also heard of Pekins getting a single black feather. No amount of breeding will keep snow feathers from the girls and that is considered normal, but breeders will take a drake with extended black snow feathers out of their breeding program. Pet duck owners on the other hand love their ducks no matter what.

Also it may be his coloration in that mode. Ettie (one of my Rouens) has a white spot between her neck and her chest for half a year, then she molts and it's gone, next molt it's back. When she has the spot it is easy to tell her from her sister (same momma, same hatch), when she doesn't you need them both together or one very closely examined to tell them apart.

Tella Left, Ettie Right - hard to tell.

Ettie with spot.

Tella with not.

Their brightness and color changes constantly as well as their bills. We can notice things like in the bathtub pics, Tella's bill is darker, and that might be valid for a month, but it always changes. For positive ID, we check their feet. Those we can absolutely tell apart.
