One of my blues (female) Dottie, has a little bit of white on her. She is only a yr old and I haven't seen her molt yet but I do know her adult feathers came in like that. I am loving the way the "snow" looks though in the pics! Perhaps there will be more white on Dottie as she ages.
When my males make that noise its usually while swimming and they kinda do their necks straight out and sort of stretch their wings while lifting a bit outta the water then that sorta "hee haw" sound can be heard. I will admit the first time I heard it I thought something might be wrong, but my girls seem to like it, so Im guessing it's a mating thing.

That noise, I have heard. Guess I just never gave it much thought.

My 2 non runner girls make a proper honking noise when they want something, my runner girls make an almost cackling laugh of a quack when they want something! The boys just do that funny noise and the raspy quacks.

Hi runner duck fans! I think I have a runner duck, at least I was told she is one, but she does not seem to have the upright bottle shape while walking. She waddles, like my other ducks. I was wondering if you could help me tell if she is just an odd runner duck or not a runner at all?
Here, her beak is kind of green like my magpies'.

here she is running: this is how she normally walks and runs and holds her neck, as well.

and this is the straightest she stands, for example when she's upset that we took her away from the other ducks and is trying to figure out the fastest way to get back without getting caught....

Do your Runners walk and run like this too?
Or am I most likely looking at a runner cross?
She quacks a rather normal sounding quack, whether she's swimming or not.
