runner duck - cough or hiccups? aspergillosis?

Pics
Coughing is usually associated with Gapeworm which won’t show up in a fecal float/poop as it lives in lungs/trachea area.
Ducks can pick up gapeworm from eating earthworms and snails. Typically they’ll cough a lot, and have their mouth open constantly “gaping” once the parasite load is high enough. Miss Lydia gave a great recommendation to me about Mollys Herbal dewormer. But most intestinal parasites can be diagnosed with a fecal float test if there in the gut.

Also one of my Campbells has always “hiccups” since she’s been 5 months old. It doesn’t sound much like yours (hers is high pitch) and is usually first thing in the morning coming out of the coop/or if we come up behind her too fast. We’ve always assumed it’s her “startled” vocalizations. So it could just be that.

If you do a chemical dewormer for gapeworm look for one with chemical levamisol, which targets adult gape worms. Not all chemical (broad-spectrum) dewormers will target all types worms. Also many will require an egg withdrawal period (in case you eat the eggs).

Defiantly a weird year for molt. I thought my Cayuga had wet feather, nope she’s molting lol. Hope it’s nothing and all is okay

Poppy acts normal (running eating drinking) but still has the squeak-coughs and when I hold her up close I can hear congestion in her lungs when she is breathing, her quacks are hoarse sounding. I think she also drinks more than normal, spends a lot of time at the bucket.
Ive been using the little nebulizer with the oxine&water solution this is 3rd day with nebulizer. Im actually holding her and using it on her just like people do for 5 minutes 2 - 3 times a day . Im still wondering if I should give her an antibiotic?

I have Valbazen and Ivermectin sheep drench and I have safeguard too . actually been wanting to use the Valbazen on all the ducks but always somebody is molting! One more just started molting this week! Perhaps Ill just give it to the ones who are not molting for now or at least to Poppy . I read it does treat gapes . she doesnt breathe through her mouth though (but maybe just not yet)

Oh and I also have metronidazole I got it because my dog got diagnosed with giardia last year and she had to take it so I got some in powder form that can be used for poultry and was trying to figure out how I would dose it

Might be time to try an antibiotic since you hear congestion, you can still do the nebulizer along with it.
