The one standing on the board is the one I was talking about. I don't have any newer pictures of her because I sold her and a few others. But at 16 weeks I think it was she had lost more of the red/ orange feathers and just bad some under her chin.

Ive wanted to try the black australorps myself I heard they are a good dual purpose breed, currently I have rirs but where as last year they layed all winter long, this year they have not. I think I read the australorps lay an egg a day for alot longer than the reds do, and I think they get a tad bit bigger also. I want some speckled sussexs too but now im just talking crazy chicken math lol

The first winter pullets will lay but the next they'll take an egg vacation. At least that's what I've been told. I really like my Australorps. The one is really friendly and upfront, the other is shy and runs. Ethel and Aussie are the only ones laying for me right now and I get about 5 eggs a week each from them. Haha Chicken math gets me in trouble. That's how I ended up with ten from one visit to Rural king

Keep me updated on your chicks. I'm excited to see how they feather out.

So I guess they are like the rirs too.. Except I have 14 layers and I'm only getting 5 eggs every other day

The chicks are my sisters but ill get some more pictures of them as they get older, we're both very curious to see how they turn out too, we can hardly wait! Its kinda like standing over the pot waiting for the water to boil, but with chickens and feather colors... lol
