Desertmarcy, you have mottled java too!? I have a pair from Urch lines here and two chicks from them so far. We've got to stay in touch!
I think my first RO eggs might be about to hatch. A few quit late. That was disappointing, so we are on pins and needles here.
Did your chicks hatch? And a quick RO pic (7wk old pullet), I just liked the expression... "What you lookin' at?"Desertmarcy, you have mottled java too!? I have a pair from Urch lines here and two chicks from them so far. We've got to stay in touch!

I've got a couple with that full, snow white beard, some with kinda scraggly beards, and some with nothing. Everyone had cheek fluff so I expect they will all grow their beards back at some point. But I have been taking note of who is faster feathering in all areas. On the heritage thread they've indicated there is some link between faster feathering and both better laying and structure, so curious to see how that tracks. Need to get leg bands on these guys, was just nervous about keeping up with size changes on 17 chicks. Fortunately, they have enough variation in color that I've been able to track individuals anyway. But I am really curious to see how they look post juvie molt. And how their structure develops, they are still far more "ski sloped" than my other LF, hoping they stay that way.
That seems to be the norm. They'll develop even more variety as their first feathers come in, then change again with their juvenile molt. I think a few folks on here are tracking down to adult feathers to see if there are any patterns, I'm hoping to using a ton of photos but mine are only 7 wks so still a work in progress.
No. Quitters mostly but I do have three developing well so far.Did your chicks hatch? And a quick RO pic (7wk old pullet), I just liked the expression... "What you lookin' at?"
Marcy is right, great beard. May I recommend you keep track of which ones have these great beards early on. I am noticing a lot of the beards dwindling or balding in many flocks. These are from Welp. I can post a few group shots later to give you an overall view of how they are growing out.Did your chicks hatch? And a quick RO pic (7wk old pullet), I just liked the expression... "What you lookin' at?"
