Russian Orloffs

Can anyone tell me a little more about this pullet?
Someone put the photo on Facebook and said it's a splash, when I asked for more information and what genes were at work here, I got told "This is a splash, With heavy marks!!!"

I wondered if she's maybe spangled with Bl/Bl (to explain the 'splash'), but she looks like she has a salmon breast and darker body, so I'm clueless. Has anyone seen this colour before? It's lovely.

ETA: I've removed the photo after getting told to screw myself. Charming.

i would say she is an EE... i have had several that where close to her color... i would guess she is silver base and pro carrying wheaten and a ton of other mixed up genes lol... i don't think she is splash at all... go look at a few pic's of silver Ameraucana...

She's definitely not EE, she's a pure orloff. I wonder if she's not mahogany carrying Bl/Bl. I don't know what base mahogany is on. I wouldn't have thought it was e+ though, but I've never hatched any.

Is she from over seas then??? I did not think there was any colors like that in the US... She can't be Blue or Splash becouse she has way to much black in her... Look at her tail mostly black... Blue or splash dilutes black 100% of the time... Blue can be dark but she looks black to me... Splash can have darker feathers sprinkled throughout but they are not black... A couple more pic's might help but I would bet money she is not splash... I love B/B/S and have had and raised hundreds in 9 different breeds...

I agree, she's not the splash I'm used to either! When I call a bird 'splash' it's Bl/Bl on E or ER with melanisers. If it's mixed with other colours, then it's "splash xx", or it has a completely different name, like 'mauve'.
I can't find any other photos of birds coloured similarly to her either. She's in the UK, but there is no mention of this in the standard.

Actually, I've just found out this pullet is from a US breeder! Hopefully, she's on here and will stop by to lift the mystery...

FWIW I think that the spangling is 'washed out' which is why you are seeing the 'ticking' on these feathers. Looking closely at the ones with the dark marks, they are like a bleached out spangling. The rest of it I can't really guess at but I am curious. I love the markings on the ones in the back ground. Too bad her type isn't better.
