Russian Orloffs

I have chicks I can ship. I just hatched a batch, some are still hatching, plus I have 6 that hatched out a week ago. There are enough to safely ship and I will have more the next few weeks. They are hatching really well and fertility has been excellent. PM me if interested.

OH! I actually sent you a email, I had found your website. Its pretty cold here right now to ship chicks but a few weeks it won't be. I'm interested too will pm you. Shoot even one week will make a difference.. finally going to get a break on the extreme cold end of the week here it looks like.

@gander007 that chick died. There was no air cell at all and the chick was completely against the shell with no holes at all in the membrane. Not so sure I would have helped since most that can't do it themselves aren't as thrifty. (At least in my experience!) I think the father of that one was Sickbay, the larger cockerel that is wider and stands taller. Dog got him as a chick but he was a fighter.
As for shipping chicks I've heard all good things about desertmarcy's. I'm just beginning to gather info and such about shipping chicks but haven't even tried it yet.
As for being hesitant about hatchery chicks- some pages back there are pics of some of the ROs ordered from Welp. I think they are more "colorful" with the spangling and must admit that the muffs are so much larger than the locally obtained stock that I have. It is all a choice and a chance but take a look at the pics for an example.
@vtguana How's everything going your way?

I see some eggs for auction but the pics of the birds have white skin legs not orange or yellow. How hard is that to correct through breeding or is it possible?? (I'm new)
You will be more then happy with desertmarcy she put's out some
really nice RO's .....

I am one of the one who posted pics of the Welp Orloffs and while I am pleasantly surprised with the ones I kept, and will work with those birds moving forward, I had to cull significantly to get them. And I have no idea what this first hatch will bring as I don't know the birds backgrounds; for all I know I've paired brother/sister and will just reinforce issues. If you can I would recommend getting chicks from desertmarcy or one of the other folks on here who have been breeding for a while, they will be familiar with their birds and should have a more consistent "product". It will save you a little time in the long run if you have any interest in breeding. But if that doesn't work I wouldn't discourage buying from Welp.

I bought from her several months ago as my aging flock was starting to produce more and more white feathered chicks so I thought it was time to start over and wow what a bunch of great looking
hens she sent me I has happy with the photos she had up but what I pulled out of the box's just
so thrilled me that I can't even explain it nice and solid heavy well feathered just made me call
all of my friends to come over and see what I had managed to get in the mail and right on time
desertmarcy is also really great to work with to boot ......

Myself what I am looking for is one of them really big Russian Orloff Roosters that I only hear about as my Big Boy was of good size and a bit cocky but this time I think I would like a
monster size one that is if I could find one of good quality .........

@JWEBB How old were your Welp ROs when they started to lay? Just curious because I also have some from Welp. (and posted pics on the difference in color) Just wondering if they may lay sooner than the other ROs I have that didn't lay until 9mths old:)

Cknldy congrats on your hatch

Been a hectic few weeks at work for me & I'm not receiving notifications from this thread for some reason. Welcome to the new members to the ROs!!! My hatch are day ten now and most look good so far, fingers crossed.

Hello gander007 & RiddleMe. For the new members to the Russian Orloff, definitely recommend desertmarcy's chicks!!! Have seen different members with her stock & all excellent looking & good quality IMHO. Nothing but good feedback from owners & other members!!! Also other members whom have bred these for yrs as suggested. I on the other hand do suggest to be weary of hatchery birds. I own a few (ROs) but will only keep for layers. If yuo're wanting for breeding & perfecting the Orloff, there are many breeders who have dedicated a lot of time to perfecting this breed, seek those out as mentioned by gander007 & RiddleMe, they know the breed.
