I have read that egg production in Orloffs drops "severely" in the second year. Have you guys that have been breeding for a while found that to be true?

I read the same thing. But have no experience with it yet. Actually, what I read was " the quantity of eggs decreases each laying year".

AMG I can hardly stand it... yes lots of pics in order!!! I have so much to learn I'm hoping the pics of them as they grow will help me see things better in other birds. Plus they are gonna be so darn cute!! I'm setting up the brooder area this weekend so they can go right in it when they get home. You'll probably hear me squealing all the way in VT.

I'm getting married next Friday these chicks are my gift from DH in lieu of a wedding ring which is fine with me LOL.

9 of the 12 eggs I put in look pretty darn good on day 7 candle, hopeful. I just put the other 3 back in wait and see a while I just don't always know what I'm looking at yet.

I thought the wind was howling earlier, but now that you mention it, might have been you I was hearing, lol. I had another chick just hatch a few minutes after midnight. Really excited since it is my youngest's first B-Day and I wanted him to have an RO all of his own. Have 5 hatched so far and 3 pipping out of 13 (had 16 set). I will try to get a few more pics & post

Thank you so much, yes I am blessed have lived with this man for 13 years, he doesn't drink or chase women, Still works everyday, puts up with me ( and buys me tools and chickens). Super good guy. The old hippy had an emergency triple bypass last year, scared the crap outa me,, and things got complicated fast so getting married will help all that common law nonsense.
