Russian Orloffs

Thank you, I would like add the link to the facebook group page if that's fine with you

Please do, that is very kind. I don't know how people can keep up with BYC AND Facebook. I can't even keep up with my BYC threads.
Maybe it is the different climates? It is really nice here right now, so I spend all my time outside, working with the birds and my garden. Come summer, when it is blasted hot, I will spend more time on the computer. But then everybody else will be outside, not having time to post

Will do desertmarcy. It's a bit hard but I have to try to keep all the enthusiasts informed. I would like to sync the Forum as well but it's not all that easy. We have many folks looking for ROs right now as well as eggs. Word is spreading & I rather they have breeder quality than hatchery IMHO.

I 'free range' mine but in the winter there isn't a lot more than snow and grit they eat out there. I was just talking to another farmer about chickens raised as 'free ranged' when they aren't free all year. I asked him if it counted if they got out on snow and he laughed and had to admit that it did as the word free was his focus and mine is ranging. If they can range in a large pasture or yard that is fenced I think that is more important than if they are free on snow or sand. BUT that's just me and my odd thoughts for the day.

Well I got one person inquiring already. I am glad there is an upsurge of interest in this breed. The more people interested, especially if they will show, the more likely we can get them in the SOP. My friend Gene Helton who is a poultry judge is getting up there in the years and health not so good, it would be nice if we could get them in the SOP before he passes. He commented to me, if there is a qualifying meet, they better have it someplace more central and not far east coast.

desertnarcy that means I'll have to travel if it's no tin the east coast. Aaah, I need a vacation anyway, long overdue. Glad to hear you got an inquiry. You need to get a hold of Keith and listen to him!!!

Decisions!!! after receiving your beautiful Orloff chicks Marcy I am having a hard time deciding what to get here! Maybe turkeys. I fear my turkey eggs will not hatch. Its day 30 and I have not a pip.

All my chickens hatched but 3 though. Not sure what happened. They were developed and in position at lockdown. bawls.

Sorry about your turkey eggs. If mine don't hatch on time, I find they don't or are weak poults. Make sure your humidity is high enough the last 3 days since the turkey egg shells are so much thicker.
