the last i knew she was doing great, i gave her away to someone who wanted her for a house pet and had more time to care for her.
i kept her for about 4mths after the frostbite hit. she had healed completely and infection cleared all she had left was little scabs that were almost healed. she had learned to walk slowly useing her wings for balance. i had to amputate her whole one foot and the other she lost 3/4 of it was all cause she sat in open water pan in winter to bath when i took the water in to thaw. she froze her feet solid in ice.
tiny round elastic cord works best from my experience u can get it in any fabric section even at
walmart very cheap. u need to tie it tight so as it dies off that band of elastic gets tighter u shouldn't have to change it if done right and kept clean.
it was the worst 3 weeks of my life to be honest we both fought hard and my nerves were shot by the time i was done and she was to lonely. she cried to be in with the babies in the brooder, i tried letting her mom them but she's accidently killed a few of them. she was a silkie and u know how bad they want to be mommas, lol. i met someone that said if i knew of anyone who had handicaps to let them know and they would take them in. it killed me to part with her i was way to attached but they needed her and she needed someone full time so i gave her to her.
i filled bowls and left them in her tub right beside her so she could access anytime to eat and drink and then i gave her a treat bowl also. let her eat or drink anything that u can get her too. yep waiting and worrying is the worst and trust me i prayed all the time for her to pull through.
prayers for ur little one,
silkie
