I recently visited a wild bird rehabilitation center and I noticed one the of the workers was using some kind of a cleaner in a spray bottle to clean the feeders with. All she did was spray them down, wipe them off with a paper towel, then fill them with food. I thought I would love to use something like that to safely disinfect my feeders. Anyone know of a product like this and where to get it? Thanks!

something containing 70% alcohol works but you really wanna have a safer way ?
steam it all off ! if you do not have a steamer , this is what I witnessed : just take a large cookingpot , boil the water , and use the steam : put the bowls in a plastic hardware over the pot , better yet use metal hardware around it because some thick plastic will melt or cook your bowls and dishes so it will kill bacteria , otherwise I'd advice a strong cleaningproduct with bleach , bleach has a good capacity of killing bacteria altough I never use the same bowls in fact unless all chickens were healthy in proven samples from the vet ... otherwise I can't help you out more sorry , but this is a great point you opened up here ! safety first :)

could it have been " ethere " ?? stinks a lot but desinfects good ( is in fact alcohol for cleaning and other purposes )

Thanks @strangeanimal! I do use a diluted bleach solution every so often, but I wanted something I can use every time I refill the feeders/waterers.

I've never heard of that. I tried Googling it and found that it's the name of a metal band from Italy.

I use mother of vinegar solutions and spray the feeder and waterer for disinfecting, I also use them in the coop 2x a year on major clean up time in place of bleach solution.

is that a brand ? I am also interested in this because steaming always takes a lot of work if you have the all round clean up ...
